DERBYSHIRE SUNDIALS HOME PAGE
Site Guide:-
This site is devoted to showing public sundials that may be seen in towns and villages of the English county of Derbyshire.
Most of them are on churches or in churchyards, although there are a few exceptions.

The navigation bar to the left takes you to pages of public sundials, and to the right is a picture of possibly Derbyshire's most famous sundial mounted on the wall of Eyam Parish Church.

Below that are links to calculator pages, and my attempts at sundial making, followed by links to other sundial sites worldwide.

Largest Modern Sundial in the World:-
A Solar Pyramid which is the brainchild of two Matlock sculptors Richard Swain and Adam Walkden is planned for construction at the Pools Brook Country Park in Staveley, Chesterfield.

The 40-metre high stainless steel sundial will be twice the height of the Angel of the North at Gateshead.

In April 2006 North East Derbyshire MP Natascha Engel raised an Early Day Motion in Parliament, and gained the support of 80 MPs for the project.

Derbyshire Sundials Tour:-
If you visit Derbyshire and would like to see some of the sundials, a suggested tour by car can be seen on the Sundials on the internet web site.
The links from Sundials on the internet back to these pages are broken, so it will be necessary to return here to view the sundials described on the tour.

If you have any information or comments please e-mail Peter Daykin.
